When Kira arrived home with Jessica and Ryan, Kira and Jessica walked upstairs and went to bed. Ryan immediately picked up his laptop and sat at the kitchen table. Then he pulled up the security camera monitors on the computer and stared at the screen all night.
The next morning, Detective Grimes phoned Ryan and requested to meet with him at the station to finalize the police report. After Ryan showered and dressed, he headed to the police station to meet with the detective. When Ryan first entered Grimesâs office, the detective picked up a file off his desk and reviewed the report and photographs.
âMister Wright, one of the reasons I wanted to meet with you today was to discuss how what happened to you last night may be related to your missing brother. Something happened to your brother, and it appears that the same person may be going after you and your family. Can you think of any reason why someone might want to harm your family?â
âNo, I really canât.â
âWhat about any disgruntled employees or customers? Has anything unusual happened recently?â
âWell, I did have a strange encounter with a customer. He was angry because I refused to allow him to test-drive a car without a license and proof of insurance.â
âWhat was his name?â
âI donât remember, but I can have my assistant forward his information to you,â Ryan said.
âOkay, that would be great. Anything else?â
âUm, I donât think so. Most of my customers are nice, and they seem happy with our service. Oh, did you talk to Anne about the alarm? Remember, I told you about her boyfriend disconnecting the alarm?â
âYes, I followed up with both Anne and her boyfriend, Tony Ronstone. Tony had an alibi when your brother went missing. He was clocked in at work. We also checked with his employer who confirmed his alibi. Anyway, there are a couple of leads weâre investigating concerning two other men who may have purchased vehicles from your dealership. Are you familiar with your customer Drew Ronstone?â
Ryan needed to remind himself that he was Brian, so he had to think about how much Brian would have known about individual customers. âUm, that name does sound familiar. Is he related to Tony?â
âIâm not sure. Their last name isnât common, so I asked if they were related. They denied any family relationship, but I really donât know if thatâs true.â
âI believe I may have seen it on one of my brotherâs customer reports, but I donât deal with most customers personally. Do you believe Drew may have something to do with what happened?â
âWell, Iâm not sure. We arrested Mr. Ronstone for money laundering, and he was in prison when everything happened to your family. In fact, heâs still there, but he knows a lot of dangerous people.â
âRonstone. Oh, I think I do remember him. He seemed like a cool guy. I mean Ryan spoke about him as if he was cool. Sometimes, he told me about some of the more interesting customers.â
âThereâs also another customer weâre looking into.
